HOW-TO: Easily configure your radio to our D-STAR system PDF Print E-mail
Written by Joey Stanford

New D-STAR users often find it difficult to get the radio settings correctly.  This is due to two main reasons: the strictness of the settings and the fact that there are four fields to configure before you can talk to anyone.

There's a nifty tool called the D-STAR Web Calculator to help you with this. If you want to load many repeaters, including ours, all at once, head over to D-STAR Info and try using the .csv file.

To access our repeater, program your radio with the following information:

Frequency: 145.3875
Offset: -600 kHz (standard minus offset)
UR: CQCQCQ
RPT 1: W0DK+++C
RPT 2: W0DK+++G
OR
RPT 2: Not Use*
MY: [Your callsign]/[Your modifier]
Frequency: 446.8625
Offset: -5.00 MHz (standard minus offset)
UR: CQCQCQ
RPT 1: W0DK+++B
RPT 2: W0DK+++G
OR
RPT 2: Not Use*
MY: [Your callsign]/[Your modifier]

Please note, in the above example:

  • "+" means to enter a BLANK SPACE into your radio. The "C", "B" or "G" must be the EIGHTH character counting from the left.
  • [Your callsign] should be your callsign (e.g. K0FCC)
  • [Your modifier] is where people put ‘M’ for mobile or which radio they are using. (e.g. K0FCC/92AD, K0FCC/880, K0FCC/H, K0FCC/P, K0FCC/M).
  • If you want to use the gateway function to talk to other D-STAR users on OTHER repeaters, please register.  Follow these instructions.

To use D-PRS, set your "Unproto Address" to "APInnn,DSTAR*" (where nnn is the first 3 digits of the radio model number)

  • IC-80: "API80,DSTAR*"
  • IC-92: "API92,DSTAR*"
  • IC-2820: "API282,DSTAR*"
  • IC-800: "API800,DSTAR*"
  • IC-880: "API880,DSTAR*"
